BuyMekato Auction Rules
Version: 28 August 2026. These rules supplement BuyMekato’s general Terms and Privacy Policy. Creations Industrial Design CC should have this draft reviewed by a Namibian legal practitioner before public launch.
For sellers
- You must own the item or be authorised to sell it.
- Describe condition, authenticity, defects, location, collection or delivery costs, and included accessories accurately.
- Do not bid on your own item, arrange artificial bids, or ask another person to inflate the price.
- After the first bid, the price and closing terms are locked. A seller must honour a winning bid that meets the reserve.
- Prohibited, stolen, counterfeit, unsafe, or unlawfully traded items may be removed and the account suspended.
For bidders
- Only bid when you intend and are able to pay. A winning bid is a commitment to buy, subject to the item matching its description.
- The highest valid bid at closing wins when any reserve price has been met.
- A bid placed during the final two minutes extends the close to two minutes after that bid.
- Inspect the item before handover where practical. Keep communication on BuyMekato and never share passwords or one-time PINs.
Payment and handover
Until BuyMekato activates an approved marketplace checkout, buyer and seller arrange payment and handover directly. BuyMekato does not hold auction proceeds in this version. Never send money merely to “release” a payment, and confirm cleared funds before handing over an item.
Disputes and platform action
Users should report suspected fraud, inaccurate listings, non-payment, or non-delivery promptly with relevant messages and proof. BuyMekato may suspend accounts, remove listings or bids, and preserve records where reasonably required for safety, enforcement, or law. This does not remove rights available under applicable Namibian law.
